1807–1874
Methodist lay evangelist of New York whose Tuesday Meeting for the Promotion of Holiness and 'altar theology' — consecrate all, believe the promise, testify — made her the mother of the Holiness movement; the Nazarene, Wesleyan and, at a remove, Pentecostal churches descend from it.
